Dance Team

During the winter sports season, the dance team performed at halftime at each of the home basketball games, entertaining the audience with choreographed routines. The squad also participated in the Delaney Athletic Conference’s Dance Tournament at Fredericksburg Academy in February, and two members of the group, Joy Heddleston and Cynthia Rodriguez, received Second-Team All-DAC recognition at the event.

Performances at WCDS on March 14th covered a wide spectrum, including Belen Olagaray’s demonstration of Flamenco dancing, Cynthia Rodriguez and Joy Heddleson’s interpretation of “Swan Lake,” Mary Shaffier’s rendition of “Almost Lover,” and Annelise Riedel’s celebratory, “Oh What a Night.” The group also performed its signature number, “Apologize,” and offered a finale dance montage, preceded by a vocal performance by Sadie Albert, a gymnastic routine by Katie vonFange, and a special magic show by 2nder grader Bernie Cieplak.
